1. Visa & Entry Requirements

Visas, ETA’s (electronic travel authorizations), and Ees (The EU’s entry/exit system) are different for every country and can get confusing. iVisa avoids long government applications and confusing questions. Very affordable, fast, and avoids future headaches.

2. How to Find Cheap Flights

These flight search engines are great to price out flights. I’ll then call the airlines direct for senior discounts; these usually aren’t published on their website.

Otherwise, you can always book through Expedia.

3. Best pricing for Cruises

Book 6 – 9 months in advance for the best pricing and cabin location.

4. Trains

I love traveling on trains. Trains are fast, clean, and lots of fun. Check out the first class; they usually have senior discounts and are totally worth the small upcharge. If you’re traveling around several European cities, I recommend you purchase Eurail on The Trainline. If you need to reserve a seat, you can do that from the app, which is easy to use.

5. Accommodations

Thankfully, we have a plethora of choices nowadays when it comes to accommodations. Before I book a hotel, I’ll first look around on Google Maps to determine which area I want to stay in. Then I’ll go through these booking engines to find the best fit for me.

6. Tours and Activities

These companies make it so easy to explore the world without over-exerting yourself. Most have knowledgeable guides that add an extra layer of enjoyment to your day.

7. Best Travel Insurance Providers

After several small medical emergencies that could have turned into a financial disaster, I no longer travel without insurance. Peace of mind has no price!

eSIMs have made international communications so much easier. I’ve been connected to friends and family from the Highlands of Scotland to the heart of South America at such affordable prices. Highly recommend for peace of mind.

9. VPN’s

Electronic communication is wonderful, but it’s wise to be careful and purchase a VPN to protect your data while traveling overseas.

10 The U.S. STEP Program

The https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step program is a free service to allow U.S. citizens to keep in touch in case of emergencies while they are overseas.
